July 10 on 10: Our Annual Adirondack Vacation

It is the time of year for our annual vacation in the Adirondacks. We have been here about a week and the weather could hardly be better. Also the mosquitoes and black flies are barely around this year which is a welcome change.

We have been enjoying the hikes. This year we did a new hike up Mount Adams and it is the hardest hike I have ever done in the Adirondacks. We thought it would be no problem since it is only 5 miles, but, boy, it was tough! The view was worth it, though:

We also did easier hikes, like up Castle Rock which offers a great payoff for a relatively easy walk up:

And Goodnow (the hike was easy, but the fire tower was much higher than on Adams):

I have also been enjoying the early mornings going out for photos, with the lovely light mist (or heavy fog, depending on the morning).

We have one week left here at our second home and I will not want it to be over but we will enjoy the memories we have for a long time.

  3. Your photos are gorgeous. I have never been to the Adirondacks but would love to go. The landscape photos of the fog on the water are some of my favorites. And that hike looks tough...way to go!
